BENTEKE SET TO MOVE TO CRYSTAL PALACE
Liverpool striker Christian Benteke is all set to finalize his move from the Reds to Crystal Palace after a deal was agreed between the clubs. It’s been speculated that a deal around the range of £27 million+addons has been agreed between the two clubs. The deal now opens the way for Benteke to take a medical and sign an official contract with Crystal Palace, with the striker expected to feature in their next fixture.
Benteke arrived at Liverpool under former manager Brendan Rodgers for £32.5 million from Aston Villa only last season. However, despite a fair start, the Belgian couldn’t manage to make significant impact during much of the season and was often only played as a substitute by present manager Jurgen Klopp. With players like Roberto Firmino, Daniel Sturridge and Divock Origi increasingly being favored over Benteke in most games, the Belgian striker had expressed his frustrations. Ultimately, the manager had declared that the striker would be allowed to leave the club if the right offer would be put on the table.
Benteke scored a total of 10 goals in 42 appearance for the club last season, including the famous bicycle kick goal against Manchester United in a 3-1 away loss and the winning goal at Anfield against champions Leicester City.
