The Mexicans have been tipped as potential winners of this World Cup as they continue on to the last 16 and have proven themselves good enough to qualify out of the group stages. Even England haven’t managed that (although before their first game, the English were tipped as being able to go all the way to the World Cup Final) and the Mexicans have been pleasantly surprising everybody as they fought their way through their group.

For over 70 minutes, this game saw no goals at all. It had the potential of being just another goalless draw which had happened between Brazil and Mexico previously, giving Croatia a slight advantage and tipped to score the only goal in a 1-0 win for them.

Rafael Marquez scores

Rafael Marquez scores the first goal of the game

The first goal would come from Rafael Marquez who headed in for Mexico before Andres Guardado got a second and Javier Hernandez headed home to put them 3-0 up  around 82 minutes and then five minutes later, The Croatians would score about 87 minutes in.

Mexico progress to the Last 16 and will be attempting to make their way to the Quarter Finals.

KEY PLAYERS: Manchester United player Javier Hernandez would  score and will surely continue to threaten defenses in the knockout stages.

Croatia’s only on form player and goalscorer was Ivan Perisic.

I’m an Englishman (born and raised in Liverpool in the 80s). My whole family including my parents and grandparents were Liverpool fans so I was born into being a red. I’ve seen Liverpool win the league (about 25 years ago) and I’ve been 100% loyal and committed while supporting the Reds through all the good times AND the bad times since the 80s.

I’m a die hard Liverpool fan (only supported ONE club in my whole life, Liverpool) and one of the most dedicated fans you’ll ever meet.
