DANNY INGS AGREES TO SIGN FOR LIVERPOOL
Liverpool FC have officially confirmed that they have agreed all terms with striker Danny Ings to join the club before the next season starts, subject to medical. It implies that if Ings passes the Liverpool medical, the current Burnley striker will join the club on a free transfer on July 1, after completing a five year tenure with the Clarets. The news comes only four days after Liverpool agreed to sign midfielder James Milner on a free transfer. However, there has been no news so far about how much Ings earn if a deal is finalized.
In the past two seasons, Ings has proven to be pretty lethal in the front line, scoring 37 goals in two seasons, including 11 in the 2014/15 Premier League campaign. Ings’ 26 goals in the 2013/14 Championship helped Burnley achieve promotion to the Premier League. However, a dismal campaign saw the team relegated, despite Ings’ performance. Ings has also played for Bournemouth and Dorchester Town in the past.
However, it remains to be seen whether the striker would be able to cement his place in the team, or will have to struggle to get a spot as a striker like Rickie Lambert, Mario Balotelli and Fabio Borini. Ings will certainly have to show some good performances from very early in the next season.
Mixed reaction from fans
There has been mixed reaction so far about the news from fans, where some have approved of the new signing, while others have expressed their doubts about the 22 year old’s abilities. Considering that a player like Mario Balotelli failed to make much impact in the Liverpool shirt, a lot of fans have put the view that whether Ings is the player that Liverpool want.
