Emre Can Confirmed as the Latest Liverpool Signing

 

Emre Can is set to sign for Liverpool

After triggering his £9.75 million release clause, Liverpool have agreed in principle to make the German midfielder Emre Can their latest signing.

The player’s current employers Bayer Leverkusen confirmed the deal on their website. Talking to the website’s reporters, the club’s Chief Executive,  Micheal Schade confirmed that an offer from Liverpool had been received.”We wanted to keep Emre at Leverkusen but the release clause is part of his contract. So we wish him all the best and lots of success in his time in the Premier League,” said Schade. 

 The player, however will only be unveiled officially as a Liverpool player on July 1, after completing all the necessary paperwork. Can is already rumored to have signed an official contract.

Who is Emre Can?

Emre Can has captained the German U-17 team

  • Born in Frankfurt, the 20 year old midfielder is already an important member in the German youth team and is expected to appear in the national team in the near future.
  • The player played for Bayern Munich in the 2012-2013 season after which he signed for Bayer Leverkusen, where the player had an important role to play in seeing his team ensure the fourth spot. At Leverkusen, Can played under the guidance of Liverpool legend Sami Hypia.
  • Can is a right footed player, but he is known to have strong technical two-feet control over the ball.
  • The player’s favored position is central midfield, but he has been deployed in defensive positions too.
