Evertonians think they’re going to win?

Celebrating our late winner at Goodison back in December

Liverpool take on Everton at Anfield tomorrow, in one of the Premier League’s biggest fixtures for both clubs, the Merseyside derby.

The last time we met, Liverpool snatched the three points in the last kick of the game, with Sadio Mane sprinting into the box and smashing the ball home after Daniel Sturridge’s strike hit the post. It was a dramatic match, with a fitting ending.

Both teams have hit a streak of fine form. Liverpool haven’t lost in three games, winning two against Arsenal and Burnley and drawing with Manchester City. In that time, we have scored six goals and conceded three, and have put in some fine performances. Everton also, have impressed as of late. They’re on a two game win streak, beating West Bromwich Albion and Hull City, scoring seven goals and conceding zero in the process.

Lallana out of the game through injury

Also, with Adam Lallana out for weeks with an injury he picked up during international duty, who will replace him? Personally, I think that Emre Can will have to be moved out of the deeper role, where he has excelled recently, and move up to replace Lallana. Of course, this all depends on if Henderson is fit for the game aswell.

Finally, who should we look out for? Based on recent form, I believe that Wijnaldum will set Anfield alight again this weekend. Also Firmino and Mane are a huge threat to the Everton defence. Of course Coutinho is a great player, but he hasn’t been amazing since his injury. However I think he’ll put in a superb effort against Everton and grab a goal. For Everton, we all know how dangerous Lukaku is in front of goal and I think he could cause issues for our back four. Gueye has been terrific too for Everton and I think we’ll struggle to play against him.

George predicts LIV-2-1-EVE, Coutinho Wijnaldum and Lukaku to score.
