This will be a scene that Liverpool fans will certainly miss next season.

After months of speculations and rumors, the potential news that all Liverpool fans wanted to avoid hearing has finally been confirmed! A statement released by the club today officially declared that Luis Suarez, the club’s hottest property, would be playing for Barcelona next season. According to reports, a transfer fee in the region of £75 million has been agreed by both the club for the Uruguayan striker.

The statement read:

“Liverpool FC confirms that Luis Suarez will be leaving the club after a transfer agreement was reached with FC Barcelona. The player now has permission to complete the usual formalities, which will then conclude the transfer.”

Suarez also released a statement later, thanking all Liverpool fans for the tremendous support he received from the fans during his two and half seasons in the club.

“It is with a heavy heart that I leave Liverpool for a new life and new challenges in Spain. Both me and my family have fallen in love with this club and with the city.

“But most of all I have fallen in love with the incredible fans. You have always supported me and we, as a family, will never forget it, we will always be Liverpool supporters.

“I hope you can all understand why I have made this decision. This club did all they could to get me to stay, but playing and living in Spain, where my wife’s family live, is a lifelong dream and ambition. I believe now the timing is right.”

Liverpool’s manager, Brendon Rodgers released a separate statement later, revealing his disappointment towards the news.

“The club have done all they can over a sustained period of time to try to keep Luis at Liverpool. It is with great reluctance and following lengthy discussions we have eventually agreed to his wishes to move to Spain for new experiences and challenges. We wish him and his young family well; we will always consider them to be friends.”

Will Liverpool be the same without Suarez next season? It’s not something we can definitely answer. But there is no doubt that we will have to look for a really good alternative, if we wish to replace our most lethal weapon from last season. Again, Suarez will also have to fight for his place in the Barcelona squad among other world class talents like Lionel Messi and Neymar. So did Suarez take the right decision? This will be an answer we can know only in next few years. What is certain is that, it will definitely be a big challenge for all premier league clubs to attract a player like Suarez to England in the coming years.
