Nathaniel Clyne officially signs for Liverpool

After weeks of transfer gossips, Liverpool finally announced that Nathaniel Clyne had signed an official deal with the club. Reports suggest that a price of £12.5 million was accepted by Southampton for the right back. With only one year left in his previous contract and him having respectfully declared his intent to move to another club, Southampton was believed to be offering the player to the buyer who could offer them the best price.

The player signed a 5-year deal with the Reds that will keep him until the end of the 2019/20 season. Clyne has also played for the England National Team on five occasions.

Clyne later spoke to LFC TV after the deal was finalized. “I’m delighted and it’s a dream move for me to come here and play for such a big club with all of its history” said Clyne. “As soon as Liverpool showed their interest in me, I was happy and just wanted the deal to go through,” he added.

Clyne becomes the second player to be unveiled by the club after he passed the club’s medical on Tuesday. Although deals have also been agreed with Danny Ings, Roberto Firmino, James Milner and Adam Bogdan, the players are yet to sit on the club’s medical. Liverpool fans will hope that none of the deals with the four players will not collapse like the one with Loic Remy, who failed the club’s medical just before the start of the 2014/15 season.
