Liverpool Players At Euro 2016
Liverpool will be the best represented Premier League club at Euro 2016, with 12 of our players picked to represent their nations this summer. That is the equal best total in Europe, along with Juventus, according to a report in the Daily Mail.
The players are as follows: Simon Mignolet (Belgium), Christian Benteke (Belgium), Divock Origi (Belgium), Nathaniel Clyne (England), Jordan Henderson (England), Adam Lallana (England), James Milner (England), Daniel Sturridge (England), Emre Can (Germany), Martin Skrtel (Slovakia), Danny Ward (Wales), Joe Allen (Wales).
That means Reds fans will have an interest in Euro 2016 matches involving England, Wales, Belgium, Germany and Slovakia. We’ll also be watching out for Jurgen Klopp attending any other matches, as we look for potential clues regarding his transfer targets this summer.
According to the bookies we’ll be seeing plenty of our boys too, as Germany, Belgium and England are all among the bookies favourites to actually win Euro 2016. Although backing England is often an optimistic bet rather than a sensible one, there are actually plenty of special offers on Euro 2016 where you can get such big odds on England it actually makes them worth a punt.
The fact that we have so many players in the Euros suggests that the squad is actually a lot better than many people seem to think. That at least is the view of the Liverpool Echo. We have more players there than anyone else, and they’re representing three teams that are among the top 5 there according to the bookies. Surely this means that our squad has a solid base to build on and only needs a bit of strengthening in order to compete for the title.
This partly depends on how the players perform of course, but if we see some of our boys starring for their countries in the Euros, I’ll be much more optimistic about our squad for next season.
