LIVERPOOL VS SWANSEA PREVIEW

Liv Swa

Only three days after winning against Bordeaux on their way to the second round of the UEFA Europa League, Liverpool are set to host one of the Premier League’s most unpredictable teams, Swansea City FC today. However, Reds manager Jurgen Klopp will be looking to continue their victory run on Sunday as well, probably aware of Swansea’s weaknesses that have placed them in the 14th spot in the Premier League table.

Liverpool on the up
Two memorable victories against Manchester City and Bordeaux has probably converted Liverpool’s players from doubters to believers. Klopp’s ‘heavy metal gameplay’ looks to be resonating with the players very well and the fans are optimistic. Despite some injury worries, players like Jordan Henderson, Martin Skrtel and Philippe Coutinho are already back in training, while Daniel Sturridge’s latest injury doesn’t look too serious. Liverpool also have plenty of attacking options in the form of Christian Benteke, Divock Origi and Roberto Firmino, while the midfield and defense departments look in good shape. Liverpool’s only worry though will be the possibility of fatigue, keeping in mind that Liverpool will be playing their next 5 games in the course of 15 days. It is possible that we could witness a lot of squad rotation, with young players possibly getting a lot of opportunities in the League Cup and Europa League games.

Head to head
Since Swansea’s promotion to the Premier League in 2011, Liverpool have played against them on 10 occasions. In fact, Liverpool have won all of their last four fixtures and if the Reds keep up their momentum, there is no reason why today won’t be their fifth successive victory against the Swans. In the last 10 head-to-head fixtures, Liverpool have won 5, while 3 games have ended in a draw and 2 games going to Swansea’s side.
