LIVERPOOL VS WEST BROM PREVIEW
With two mediocre away performances in the past 7 days, with one match ending in a defeat while the another ending as a 0-0 draw, Liverpool will be looking to regain their winning momentum on Sunday, when they will welcome West Bromwich Albion as their 16th opponent in the 2015/2016 English Premier League. Talking to reporters in the pre-match conference Klopp declared that we could see the ‘true face of the Liverpool squad’ tomorrow.
Klopp willing to feature a full strength squad
One of the causes behind Liverpool’s lackluster show in the last two games was the absence of a few key players from the squad. In particular, the absence of Philippe Coutinho and Emre Can had noticeable effect on the Liverpool midfield, because of which the Reds just couldn’t seem to attack against Newcastle and Sion as efficiently as they did against the likes of Manchester City and Southampton this season. However, with Coutinho returning from injury and Can returning from suspension, West Brom’s defense will have a hard time containing Liverpool’s attack. However, Jordan Ibe could be rested tomorrow as he was diagnosed with illness in the last week. In the pre-match conference Klopp hinted that they will be playing with an intent to win tomorrow despite admitting that West Brom are indeed a hard team.
Head to Head
West Bromwich Albion have consistently proven to be one of the most difficult opponents for Liverpool in the recent years. Based on the performances of the last 10 games it can be considered that both the teams are on even terms, with both West Brom and Liverpool winning 4 games each, while 2 games have ended in a draw. In the Premier League table, West Brom aren’t too far behind Liverpool as they sit in the 13th place with 19 points, compared to Liverpool’s 23.The last time when the two teams met was in April where it ended a goaless draw.
