Potential LFC transfer targets?

There’s no doubt that Jurgen Klopp has completely transformed Liverpool Football Club. From players to facilities, he has improved our beloved club in every way possible. Our team plays some inspiring football , scoring brilliant goals and putting in some amazing performances. Of course those standards haven’t been maintained for the whole season, but we’ve seen a lot of great matches.

So, with the transfer window up and coming, it’s only fair that we get the rumour mill started.

Joel Matip was a great signing

Personally (and I think a lot of fans would agree with me) our defense needs vast improvements. Joel Matip was a great signing and he has overhauled our back four completely. However, he can’t do it by himself and he needs someone with the same ability to join him. Lovren, Klavan and Lucas aren’t acceptable options, considering we could be challenging for the title next season. I would bring Mamadou Sakho back from Crystal Palace, where he has been excellent, and try him out with Matip. If that doesn’t work, then we would obviously need to dive into the market, in search of a suitable replacement.  I have been extremely impressed with James Milner as our makeshift left back this season, and have little to no complaints with him whatsoever (considering he’s a central midfielder.) However, yet again if we are to be challenging for the title next season, he needs to be replaced with someone who actually plays there. A personal favourite of mine is Jonas Hector <main picture>, a highly rated left back playing for FC Koln and his country, Germany. He has been reliable throughout his career and at only 26, he could be in for a few years.

As we all know, Mignolet and Karius haven’t proven themselves to be the most reliable goalkeepers this season, with the latter making a bucketful of mistakes in a handful of games. However, although he has made costly errors, I believe that Karius can find his feet and become a world class keeper that we have been missing for years. When he was playing for Mainz 05 in the bundesliga he pulled off some incredible saves and was voted the second best goalkeeper in the league after an impressive season. It would be incredibly hard to beat Manuel Neuer in that category. He just needs time.

Naby Keita seems to be a good fit

Another position where I believe we could strengthen is in central midfield. My preferable midfield three of Henderson, Wijnaldum and Lallana have all been of the highest quality this season, and there isn’t much I would change. However, if one of those players gets injured, then, apart from Emre Can, there is no one to fill in for them. One player who has been linked with Liverpool, Naby Keita, seems to be a good fit. For RB Leipzeig he has been top drawer this season, and at twenty two years old, he’s a player for the future, and it’s a bright one. He would be able to fill gaps when necessary and might even be a starting player in the coming years.

Finally, I would absolutely love to see Liverpool go into the market for an out and out striker. Firmino has been brilliant this season, scoring nine goals. However, I believe that a player like Alexandre Lacazette, of Olympique Lyon would bring more goals to the team and an extra layer of class. Of course, he wouldn’t be cheap (we would have to spend at least £50 million to get him) but I think it would be a worthwhile investment. Also, it would show a sign of power, and that our intentions and dreams for the coming years are big.
