STERLING HEADS TO CITY FOR £49 MILLION
After a series of controversial actions, it’s been confirmed that Liverpool FC have finally agreed to sell Raheem Sterling for a fee worth £49 million to Manchester City FC. The player will put the pen to paper on the deal, subject to his contract negotiations and medical.
The ‘2014/15 Liverpool Player Of The Season’ had become increasingly isolated among Liverpool fans after refusing to sign an extended contract with the club and publicly declaring his intent to leave the club in an interview with the BBC afterwards.
Earlier in June, Liverpool had received two bids from Manchester City, amounting to £40 million and £45 million. However, Liverpool had refused to sell the player at any amount less than £50 million. In the end the Liverpool transfer committee seems to have shown a little bit of flexibility while agreeing to £49 million.
The transfer amount is set to be the costliest ever for an English player, with the youngster’s old club Queens Park Rangers set to receive 20% of the total fees.
