THE JANUARY TRANSFER WINDOW: WHO WON’T BE COMING AND WHO MAY

keep-calm-its-only-another-january-transfer-window

The season certainly hasn’t gone the way Liverpool fans wanted. The disappointing start to the season has inspired fans to make their own ‘Anfield Menu Card’, with names of players they want at Liverpool. It’s also an occasion when newspapers, tabloids and websites spread several gossips and rumors (most of which are nonsense) to generate some extra hits and sales. More often, such rumors only give rise to unrealistic expectations within fans, that is bound to fall when the transfer window closes. Well, if you don’t want to be disappointed this time, take my advice: expect less and don’t succumb to the rumors.

Anyway, moving back to the topic, let’s look at who will ABSOLUTELY not be coming to Liverpool and who may actually come.

Not coming
1. Karim Benzema:

Benzema

Hasn’t it been 3 years since we have been hearing about the Frenchman’s link up with Liverpool, every transfer window? With the extraordinary transfer fee that Liverpool may need to bear followed by the extraordinary wage demands, on the back of Liverpool’s exit from the Champions League, be sure that Karim Benzema certainly isn’t coming to Anfield.

2. Fernando Torres:

Didn’t you get the news? AC Milan have agreed to make the loan deal of the former Liverpool superstar into a permanent deal. Of course, until the player’s signature is on paper, nothing is sure. However, guys stop believing the rumors that he wants to come to Liverpool, it ain’t happening!

3. Victor Valdez:

Victor Valdes

The recent injury record of the keeper and the extraordinary wage demands have repelled the current Liverpool board from signing him.

4. Marco Reus:

Marco Reus

Let’s look at the extraordinary list of clubs that are after this German striker. Bayern Munich, Manchester United, Real Madrid, Juventus and several others. Several clubs are ready to pay big bucks to Borussia Dortmund for his services. It would be safe to say that Liverpool are already out of the race for this striker.

5. Danny Ings:

Danny Ings

Although he has been impressive for Burnley, Liverpool are in need of a marquee signing, rather than another middle-level signing. BR knows it, especially after signing several players in the summer, who have under-performed.

6. Edinson Cavani:Edinson Cavani

PSG certainly aren’t a team who will let their star players leave easily. So, PSG letting Cavani leave during the winter is nothing more than an unreal daydream. And even by chance Cavani hands in a transfer request, he will probably be destined to other clubs who will pay him bigger than Liverpool.

7. Fabio Coentrao:

Do Liverpool need a left-back who will cost them at least £25 million? Well, you know the answer!

8. Ezequiel Lavezzi:

LavezziWith several under-performing ‘star’ strikers already in the squad, Liverpool certainly aren’t looking to put their money on Lavezzi.

9. Wilfried Bony:

Wilfried Bony

With the African Nations Cup, Bony is set to be out of England until late January and Liverpool certainly aren’t in a position to wait that long. So, he is out of consideration.

10. Jackson Martinez:

Jackson Martinez

Why isn’t he coming? Well, Porto are in the last 16 of the Champions League and Liverpool aren’t!

11. Jan Vertonghen:

Vertonghen

The Belgian certainly isn’t looking forward to leave Tottenham anytime soon. And why would Tottenham allow Liverpool to snatch their key player half-way through the season?

12. Yohan Cabaye:

CabayeHe is certainly a player who could fit in the Liverpool system. However, there are our domestic rivals, who are ready to pay top bucks for the French and it’s a deal that really isn’t happening!

A slight chance of Coming
1. Pedro:

Pedro

Despite a competition against Arsenal, he is one player that Liverpool will battle all the way till the end.

2. Xherdan Shaqiri:

Shaqiri

For acquiring a proven talent like Shaqiri, Liverpool are definitely ready to dig deep into their pockets. His chances of coming to Liverpool will be high, as there are better prospects of him getting first-team action with the Reds compared to other teams who are after him- something he missed while at Bayern Munich.

3. Petr Cech:

Cech

Liverpool are desperate to get a quality stopper for the season and Cech is desperate for first team action. It’s one deal Liverpool may agree.

4. Paulo Dybala:

Dybala

He is exactly the player that Liverpool would want and he certainly could be as valuable as Suarez in the years to come. A proven goalscorer at Palermo, Liverpool look ready to outbid any rival for this gem.

If we manage to sign at least two of the above 4 targets, then consider this winter window an absolutely successful transfer window. Keep calm and don’t put high expectations! YNWA.
