The Americans have really exceeded all expectations in my opinion. They could have beaten Portugal in what was quite an exciting game that did not disappoint to entertain.

I enjoyed watching the game and it started with a goal after only five minutes after Nani would put the ball in the net with confidence.

It didn’t look like Portugal were going to win by a large amount of goals, despite their early lead. America did very well in putting up their best fight and never gave up.

Portugal lead at half time and it would be the second half before America had a goal of their own to add to the scoresheet.

Jermaine Jones’ amazing strike levelled the scores just after an hour and the USA were back in it again.

The last ten to fifteen minutes of the game would be a thrilling experience to watch as Clint Dempsey scored on 81 minutes and eventually, in the 94th minute Varela dived to meet Cristiano Ronaldo’s cross and claim what might still turn out to be a vital point for the Portuguese, as they had looked like being beaten 2-1.

KEY PLAYERS: Clint Dempsey was on form again and scored an important goal which almost won the game, had the Portuguese not grabbed another to equalize in injury time.

Silvestre Verala would save Portugal from embarrassment of defeat to the Americans.

I’m an Englishman (born and raised in Liverpool in the 80s). My whole family including my parents and grandparents were Liverpool fans so I was born into being a red. I’ve seen Liverpool win the league (about 25 years ago) and I’ve been 100% loyal and committed while supporting the Reds through all the good times AND the bad times since the 80s.

I’m a die hard Liverpool fan (only supported ONE club in my whole life, Liverpool) and one of the most dedicated fans you’ll ever meet.
