Ragnar Klavan signs for the Reds

Liverpool FC today unveiled their latest signing in the form of center-back Ragnar Klavan. The Estonian defender becomes the latest player to join the Reds this summer, after finalizing after agreeing a fee believed to be around the region of £5m from FC Augsburg.

The club officially signed the Klavan today at Melwood, after the Estonian passed the club’s medical yesterday. Talking with the club’s official media, the Estonian expressed his joy after completing the deal. “I’m really honoured to be part of this amazing club, this amazing team,” said Klavan.
“It’s hard to put it into words, because it’s been a dream of mine for 22 years to come to the Premier League and be a part of this amazing club, Liverpool.
“The Premier League is the most attractive league in the world and you always have amazing players here. This is the home of football.”

Klavan’s signing has been hailed as a strong move by manager Jurgen Klopp to improve the defensive performance of the team, compared to the last season. The Estonian becomes the manager’s fifth club signing and fourth defensive signing this season. The 30-year-old defender is expected to take part in some of the tour matches as well as the first few matches of the regular season. Following the signing, Klopp has also been hailed by fans for his proactive approach to signing new players, with the manager acting quickly to fill the voids created by exiting players, which wasn’t the usual case with other Liverpool managers in the recent past.

Welcome to Liverpool, Ragnar!
